Celebrating the 101st Southern Ute Tribal Fair: Parade

The Southern Ute Education Department parades down Goddard in frybread ingredient costume.

Newly crowned Little Miss Southern Ute, Shayne White Thunder rides horseback down Goddard Ave, waving to the crowds of spectators. White Thunder was later announced first place in the Best Dressed Female Indian Rider category.

The 101st Southern Ute Tribal Fair Parade commenced on Saturday, Sept. 9, lineup began at Ignacio High School and contestants paraded down the entirety of Goddard Ave. This year’s parade featured multiple categories including floats, best dressed, horses, and cars all decorated in adherence to this year’s theme “Bread of Unity.” Spectators lined the street, ready for the abundance of candy and other goodies.
