The Southern Ute Veterans Association hosted the formal Vietnam Veterans Day on Friday, March 29 at the Southern Ute Veterans Park. Southern Ute Veterans Association Commander, Howard D. Richards Sr. and Vietnam Combat Veteran Rod Grove served as the emcees for this year’s event. Beginning with an invocation by Terry Knight, the event proceeded with performance of the national anthem by Marlena Valdez, honor songs by Yellow Jacket Singers, and closed with a presentation of “Taps” by Southern Ute Vietnam Veteran Ronnie C. Baker. The event brought local veterans, families, and tribal dignitaries together for this day of recognition and remembrance.
