On Tuesday, December 9^th, the Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Board of Directors held a meeting and celebratory dinner to honor those board members who completed on-line training as a Boys & Girls Clubs of America Spillet Leadership University Scholar.  Each member was awarded a certificate of completion as well as an official Boys & Girls Club Board Member shirt in recognition of their completed training and contributing efforts to the Boys & Girls Club organization.  Spillet Leadership University is a web based education source that provides meaningful, continuous learning opportunities designed to develop skilled leaders with integrity and commitment to the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s mission, values and cultures.  Learning opportunities within the Spillet Leadership University are organized into five schools, including the School of Board Leadership.  Within each school, learning opportunities are organized around four levels: Foundation, Advanced, Mastery, and Legacy Level.  Each of the eight interactive online courses under the Foundation level of the School of Board Leadership are approximately 45 minutes to an hour long.  As required by Boys & Girls Clubs of America, BGCSU Board members completed the Foundation level of the School of Board Leadership and will pursue continuing education in the Spillet Leadership University.  BGC administrative staff would like to express appreciation to each board member for their contribution, time and efforts to support the BGSCU organization. This was also made possible through the efforts of Bruce LeClaire- Chief Professional Officer, Edward Box III – Board President, Stephanie Lefthand –  AmeriCorps VISTA, whose assigned responsibility is board development and sustainability, and SU Management Information Systems (MIS) Department.  Each worked in collaboration to provide classroom space and support to Board members in their efforts to complete this training.  All BGC Board Members are appointed by Tribal Council to support the Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in their efforts to serve the young people of Ignacio.
